It is still not too late to be considered for a Special Forbearance, which will, if granted, suspend the foreclosure action and allow you time to move your loan towards reinstatement. Going this route should eliminate any out-of-pocket costs. If you do not secure a remedy on your own, you might consider default/foreclosure mediation. The advantage to this tactic is that an experienced mediator will be able to work directly with your lender on your behalf to put a workout in place. The advantage to using a reputable mediator is that you should be able to secure more favorable workout terms than if you go it alone. Most organizations that provide this type of service charge a fee. Finally, another alternative might be to consider filing bankruptcy. A knowledgeable attorney will be able to advise you on the advantages and disadvantages to you after reviewing the specifics of your situation. You will be required to pay attorney and court filing fees.
