: What hex did you put on the loan officer? Common wisdom has it that banks never accept title in trust, due to inflexible "procedure", general cluelessness, and the need to securitize their loans, even if you personally cosign the note.

Jenv,

If the loans aren't subject to FNMA's underwriting standards then just about anything is possible.

ALL home equity loans are "portfolio" loans -- destined to remain in the originating lender's portfolio for the duration of the term of the loan.

Thus the more flexible the lender can become when dealing with loans they have to keep.

Right now I'm dickering with WAMU for the same loan setup that I received from Wells Fargo. Can't use Wells Fargo any more since I'm over their self-imposed limit of just 3 home equity loans per customer.

Wish me luck.
